Stability Evaluation and Mechanism of Asphalts Modified With Various Rubber Powder Contents

Ground tires are one of the main sources urban solid waste. Rubber powder-modified asphalt provides an effective method to solve problem, and it presents good high- low-temperature performance in sustainable pavement construction. However, storage properties rubber asphalts prepared from traditional shear mixing unstable, which restricts their application. In this study, four test methods (the softening-point test; dynamic rheological Laboratory Asphalt Stability Test; fluorescence image analysis) six evaluation indexes difference S diff , segregation percentage p index I se rate R s degradation d stability st ) were employed analyze abilities modified by various activated powder contents. The results show that have a positive correlation with content asphalt, 60% is proven be optimum amount. powders can distribute uniformly matrix when mixed below amount; otherwise agglomeration formed. quantitative morphology analysis agreement laboratory conclusions. shows better compatibility compared ordinary promising treat waste ground tires.
